Laren seeks long-term housing for ninety asylum seekers
The municipality of Laren is searching for a location to provide long-term housing for ninety asylum seekers. This capacity exceeds the seventy places the municipality is required to realize under the Spreidingswet (Distribution Act).
Laren intends to take on these additional twenty spots to compensate the municipality of Blaricum, which has historically managed Laren's asylum seeker requirements through the former Tergooi hospital.
Local residents will be involved early in the process via an online survey to suggest potential locations and identify necessary criteria for the facility. Alderman Erik Koldenhof stated that the municipality aims to fulfill its social responsibility through a process that is “careful, transparent, and future-proof.” The goal is to find a sustainable location that ensures continuity and proper integration into the surrounding environment.
