Large art center to open on Île Seguin in Paris
The new art center Large, designed by the Catalan studio RCR Arquitectes, is scheduled to open on October 17 on Île Seguin in Paris. Located near Boulogne-Billancourt along the Seine, the center features a sinuous, metallic copper-colored skin.
The site was formerly home to the Renault factory, which closed its workshops in 1992. The development of Île Seguin is part of one of the most significant urban renewal projects in Europe. The project has involved several Pritzker Prize-winning architects, including Jean Nouvel and Shigeru Ban. The main exhibition hall at Large spans 1,000 square meters and utilizes a large panoramic window and a top skylight for illumination.
