Large Marijuana Seizures Reported in Germany and Paraguay

German customs officials at Frankfurt Airport intercepted two suitcases arriving from Abu Dhabi that contained a total of 36 kg of marijuana – 17.6 kg in one bag and 18.4 kg in another – leading to the provisional arrest of two young men. Christine Straß, spokesperson for the Frankfurt customs office, noted that “despite the partial legalization of marijuana, import of the drug remains punishable and many consumers are still unaware of this.”

In Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, a 30‑year‑old woman was caught attempting to smuggle 108.7 g of marijuana hidden in her vagina while visiting a prison inmate. Police discovered the concealed package during a routine check, arrested her and seized a mobile phone along with the drug.
