Large tuna catches reported in Whitby and Antalya
Significant tuna catches have been reported in both the North Sea and the Mediterranean. In Whitby, England, a 338-kilogram Atlantic bluefin tuna was caught by the fishing vessel Dominator. This event is notable as it may be the first bluefin tuna landed in the North Sea since 1939, following a period where the species had largely disappeared from the region due to overfishing.
In a separate event in Finike, Turkey, fisherman Hüseyin Özdemir caught a 118-kilogram tuna in the Mediterranean Sea. The catch required a 2.5-hour struggle to bring the fish on board the vessel Finikefishing.
