Large vehicles cause utility infrastructure damage in Argentina

Incidents involving large trucks snagging overhead cables have caused significant damage to utility infrastructure in parts of Argentina. In Recreo, a truck reportedly hooked telephone lines, causing a utility pole to fall onto a parked car on Blas Parera Street. Local residents noted that the incident highlights ongoing issues with poorly maintained poles, low-hanging cables, and the presence of heavy vehicles in urban areas where transit may be restricted.

In Catamarca, a truck from the private company Kios caused similar damage in the 40 Viviendas Norte neighborhood. The vehicle snagged aerial cabling, toppling two poles and destroying a home's electrical pillar. This left a local family without electricity or internet services. Repairs were delayed due to coordination issues between service providers, specifically between the state distributor EC SAPEM and the telecommunications firm Personal Flow. Residents have criticized municipal and road authorities for failing to regulate heavy truck traffic in residential zones.
