Larissa Bridge Still Submerged Three Years After Storm Daniel

The bridge at Palaioypyrgos in Larissa, Greece, was heavily damaged when the September 2023 flood caused by Storm Daniel inundated parts of the structure. The flood broke the connection between the coastal communities of Tempon and Agia, forcing traffic to be rerouted.

Three years later, drivers continue to risk crossing the partially submerged bridge despite the hazard. The detour adds dozens of kilometres via the national road, and video footage shows the bridge’s remains still submerged, highlighting the ongoing impact on local mobility.
