Larissa faces political activity amid farmer protests and party events
Larissa is seeing increased political and social activity ahead of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s scheduled visit on Wednesday, October 14.
The United Federation of Agricultural Associations of Larissa (EOASNL) has called for farmer coordination and meetings in response to the visit. The federation expressed desperation regarding high production costs, low product prices, and a lack of liquidity. Key grievances include delays in compensation payments, issues with the Single Digital Registry for Farmers (OSDE), and critical challenges facing the livestock sector. EOASNL accused the Prime Minister of failing to uphold previous commitments made during past protests.
Separately, the Greek Left Coalition (EL. A. S.) has announced a political dialogue event in Larissa on Monday, October 12. Held at the JOIST innovation hub, the event aims to engage with society, highlight regional problems, and develop political proposals. The party indicated that Thessaly and Larissa are high priorities on its political agenda.
