Larissa General Hospital addresses ambulance access concerns at new ED

The administration of Larissa General Hospital has addressed concerns regarding the accessibility of the newly renovated Emergency Department (ED) for ambulances. Following the reopening of the facility, which was funded by the Recovery Fund, EKAB workers raised concerns that the entrance height on Georgiadou Street might hinder the entry of modern, high-clearance mobile units, potentially causing delays during critical emergencies.

Hospital management clarified that the usable entrance height remains constant at 2.55 meters. They stated that any additional cement layers applied during renovation did not reduce the clearance, as the old layer was removed first. The administration noted that EKAB personnel conducted an inspection on the day of the issue to determine which types of ambulances can successfully enter the premises.

The renovation is part of a broader modernization program for the hospital in Thessaly, which includes plans for specialized pediatric and gynecological emergency spaces and digital operating rooms.
