Greece: Cultural festivals, musical tours, and police bravery awards
Various cultural and civic events are taking place across Greece. In Crete, the 6th Festival of the Region of Crete will present ‘Crete Myths’, a new musical work by Dimitris Maramis inspired by Minoan mythology and female figures such as Europa and Ariadne.
In Larissa, several events are noted. The Australian Strings Association (AUSTA) is scheduled to perform at the Municipal Conservatory on September 26, 2026, as part of an international tour. Additionally, a biography presentation dedicated to Cretan musician Vasilis Skoulas was held at the Municipal Art Gallery.
Due to heavy rainfall, a concert by Lefteris Pantazis at the Neapoli Covered Market was interrupted for safety reasons. The Municipality of Larissa has announced that the performance will be rescheduled at no additional cost to the municipality.
In a separate civic ceremony, Police Sub-Inspector Panagiotis Anagnostou was awarded the ‘Police Medal of Bravery’ at the Larissa Police Headquarters. The award recognizes his actions in July 2022 in Athens, where he and a colleague confronted an armed suspect who had committed a homicide and subsequently shot the officers.
