Larissa hosts historical photography exhibition and medical conference
Larissa is hosting two significant events. The Municipal Art Gallery of Larissa – G. I. Katsigras Museum, in collaboration with the Photo Library of the Thessaly History Group, is organizing a guided tour of the photography exhibition ‘The Memory of the City: Larissa. Occupation – Liberation 1941-1944’. Led by historian Nikolaos Papatheodorou, the tour features 70 photographs from Byron Mitou’s archive and 50 from various local collections, including the Jewish Community of Larissa. The images, many taken by German soldiers, document the city during the occupation, including periods of bombings and earthquakes.
Additionally, the University of Thessaly’s School of Medicine will host the Joint Conference of Medical Physics and Radiology from October 30 to November 1, 2026. This major scientific event is expected to be the largest hosted in Larissa, featuring over 900 registered participants, 430 scientific papers, and 180 guest speakers. The program focuses on advancements in medical imaging, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, and the applications of artificial intelligence in medicine.
