Budapest Ultimate Championship: Tamberi and Iapichino secure gold

Italian athletes achieved significant success at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest. Gianmarco Tamberi won the high jump gold with a seasonal world-leading clearance of 2.37 meters, securing his twelfth major career title.

In the 800 meters, Francesco Pernici set a new Italian national record with a time of 1:42.67, finishing fifth in a highly competitive final won by Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati. Additionally, Larissa Iapichino claimed gold in the long jump with a first-attempt leap of 6.90 meters, marking a historic first for an Italian in this competition.

Other notable results included Josh Kerr winning the 1500m title with a time of 3:29.35, and Marcell Jacobs finishing seventh in the 100m heats.
