Larissa Manoela exits Carmen Miranda biopic

Brazilian actress Larissa Manoela will no longer star in the Carmen Miranda biopic directed by Bruno Barreto. Her team announced on Monday that the departure was due to a change in the filming schedule.

According to a statement from Manoela’s team, director Bruno Barreto decided to move the filming dates forward after learning that another project about Carmen Miranda was also in production. Although Manoela had kept her schedule reserved for the film for over a year, the new dates conflicted with previously established professional commitments. The team noted that while it was suggested she alter her existing contracts to accommodate the new schedule, she declined to do so to maintain her professional integrity and respect for her current obligations.

Manoela had previously expressed enthusiasm for the role, citing a personal connection to the iconic singer. The director had selected her for the part following her performance in ‘Traição Entre Amigas’.
