Larissa Model High School wins national 3D design award
The Larissa Model General Lyceum has been awarded first prize in the ‘Science and Sustainable Development’ category at the 8th Panhellenic Student 3D Design and Printing Competition, ST3dM 2026. The school shared the top honor with the 4th General Lyceum of Ioannina due to the high quality of the competing entries.
The winning student research team, named ‘Photon IQ’, developed the ‘EcoHub Prototype’. This project focuses on optimizing energy efficiency through smart grids and sustainable technologies, utilizing 3D-designed structural elements and an automated electronic system to manage energy flows from renewable sources.
The competition was organized by the ST3dM research team from the Physics Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) to promote the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) educational approach. The team's methodology and results are scheduled to be presented at the 6th Panhellenic ST3dM Conference in Thessaloniki in December 2026.
