Larissa MP seeks relief for flood-affected alfalfa producers
Larissa MP Giannis Karipidis has submitted a formal inquiry to the Minister of Rural Development and Food regarding administrative obstacles facing alfalfa producers in the Larissa regional unit. Three years after the destruction caused by Storm Daniel, producers who lost access to their original leased agricultural plots are being prevented from restoring their plant capital on alternative land.
According to the Panlarisaikos Agricultural and Livestock Association, communications with the president of ELGA revealed that producers who no longer hold leases for their original fields cannot perform restoration on different plots. Current regulations allow for restoration on alternative land in special cases, such as lack of access, but require ownership of the original plot as a prerequisite. This has created a disparity for producers operating on leased land who can no longer access their original sites.
