Larissa Municipality disputes opposition stance on infrastructure projects
The Municipality of Larissa has issued a statement criticizing the local opposition for refusing to vote on two significant infrastructure projects during the latest Municipal Committee meeting. The opposition declined to approve the measures on the grounds that they were introduced outside the official daily agenda, despite explanations regarding their urgency.
The two projects in question are the maintenance of the Old National Road Larissa–Thessaloniki (from the Sykouri intersection to the Koulourio intersection) and the construction of a bicycle path on the side road of Sakis Karagiorgas.
The municipal administration accused the opposition of political opportunism, noting that while the opposition representatives acknowledged the importance of the projects, they still refused to vote for them. The municipality further contested claims by the opposition that such items were not introduced outside the agenda under previous administrations, citing official 2023 minutes involving projects for children with Down Syndrome and school zone safety improvements.
