Larissa railway station development faces TEE conditions

The Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) has issued specific conditions regarding the development of the Larissa railway station. In a letter to Hellenic Railway Properties S.A., the TEE Regional Department of Central and Western Thessaly warned that the utilization of the approximately 233-acre site must be linked to the long-term goal of burying railway lines within the city.

The TEE argues that current investment designs should not create construction constraints that would make future undergrounding more difficult or significantly more expensive. They are calling for a unified implementation plan involving relevant ministries, the railway infrastructure manager, the Municipality of Larissa, and the Thessaly Region.

Furthermore, the TEE proposes that a portion of the revenues generated from the station's development be legally earmarked to fund the studies and construction required for the railway's undergrounding.
