Larnaca 2030 submits planning application for new Arts and Culture Center
The Larnaca 2030 Organization has officially submitted a planning permission application for the construction of the Arts and Culture Center. Located in the former refinery area, the center is considered the most significant infrastructure project in preparation for Larnaca’s designation as the European Capital of Culture in 2030.
Designed by the world-renowned architectural firm Foster + Partners in collaboration with local firm UDS Architects, the approximately 8,000 square meter facility will serve as a multifunctional hub for artistic activities. The project, commissioned by the Petrolina Group, is planned to include three main sections: an Arts Center featuring an 800-seat theater, a Creation Center with exhibition and artistic spaces, and a Museum of Human Memory.
The center is intended to act as a permanent cultural landmark for Larnaca and Cyprus, providing a meeting point for local and international artists well beyond the 2030 celebrations.
