Larnaca Airport bomb threat grounds flight to Rome

A bomb threat at Larnaca Airport on Friday morning led to the grounding of an aircraft scheduled to fly to Rome, Italy. Approximately 190 passengers were required to disembark from the plane to allow for security inspections.

Authorities were alerted to the potential threat via fax. In response, the Cyprus Police, fire services, and specialized K9 units were deployed to the scene to conduct extensive searches. Minister of Transport Evi TsolaKi confirmed that security protocols are being strictly followed and that the threat is currently being assessed.

Larnaca Police spokesperson Spyros Chrysostomou stated that all necessary procedures have been activated as part of the investigation. It remains unclear whether the threat originated from a specific finding on the aircraft or was a piece of information communicated to the authorities.
