Larnaca apartment complex ordered to evacuate due to safety risks

The District Administration Organization of Larnaca (EOAL) has issued an evacuation order for one of the city's largest and oldest residential and commercial complexes on Grigori Avxenitiou Avenue. The building, known as the DI. PA. complex, contains 64 apartments and 12 businesses.

The decision follows findings of serious structural instability and visible damage to the building's columns. Residents and business owners were reportedly given a three-day deadline to vacate their premises, starting last Friday, with the deadline set for Monday, October 12.

Local residents and entrepreneurs have expressed significant distress regarding the short notice, citing difficulties in finding immediate alternative housing and the logistical challenges of moving equipment and technology. While some residents claim they had received warnings from the Municipality of Larnaca in previous years, others have criticized the lack of formal communication prior to the sudden evacuation notices.
