Larnaca, Cyprus Removes Illegal Mobile Homes from Public Beach
The Provincial Administration of Larnaca, together with municipal crews and police, carried out a large‑scale operation on the beach adjacent to the Naval Club to enforce a cease‑and‑desist order issued by the Interior Minister. Beginning around 07:00 on Tuesday, authorities used bulldozers and special transport platforms to remove six illegally parked mobile homes that remained after twelve owners voluntarily complied with the order.
The operation also dismantled roughly nine unauthorized shacks and other makeshift structures that had been built on the sand, damaging the natural environment and occupying public space. About eighteen mobile homes had been recorded on the site; twelve owners removed their units voluntarily, while the remaining six were taken away by officials. Owners are expected to pay administrative fines before they can retrieve their vehicles. Officials said further inspections will continue to safeguard free public access to the beach.
