Larnaca: Man hospitalized after lightning strike in Kato Dry

A 45-year-old man from Sri Lanka was hospitalized in Larnaca after being struck by lightning in the Kato Dry area. The incident occurred near the Timiou Prodromou chapel on Saturday afternoon while the man was walking toward a vehicle.

The victim sustained minor burns to his shoulder and was treated at the Larnaca General Hospital. Medical officials from OKYPY have reported that his health condition is stable following examinations.

Local authorities noted that while severe weather caused some issues in the Larnaca district, such as fallen trees, cables, and wind-blown objects, the situation is normalizing. Officials also clarified that there were no reports of flooding or people being trapped inside the Larnaca General Hospital.
