Larry Fitzgerald inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame

Legendary Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026. During his induction, Fitzgerald addressed his refusal to use the term "retired," explaining that he views his post-playing years as a series of transitions rather than an end to activity. He noted that his stance was influenced by his grandfather, who once suggested that "retirement kills more people in our country than anything."

Fitzgerald's Hall of Fame induction follows a prolific 17-season career in which he recorded 1,432 receptions for 17,492 yards. In his induction speech, he expressed gratitude to the Arizona fans who supported him throughout his career.

The ceremony was also marked by personal loss, as Fitzgerald's father, Larry Fitzgerald Sr., passed away in June at the age of 71. A former sports media professional in Minnesota, Fitzgerald Sr. died from multiple causes, including sepsis and prostate cancer. Fitzgerald indicated that his father would be a significant presence in his Hall of Fame reflections.
