Larry the Cat debunks reports of his death

Larry the Cat, the famous chief mouse catcher of Downing Street 10, has debunked reports of his death. The cat responded via his X account, using a variation of a famous Mark Twain quote: ‘Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated...’.

The false report was initially published by the portal Politics UK, which later retracted the news. The outlet stated that the report was based on a reliable source that had been hacked.

Larry has lived at the official residence of the British Prime Minister since February 2011, when he was brought from a shelter by former Prime Minister David Cameron to help control the rat population. He has since become a public figure and tourist attraction, residing at Downing Street longer than any Prime Minister since the late 19th century.
