Lars Barstad Løvold addresses misconduct allegations in FpU debate

Former FpU leader Lars Barstad Løvold and a whistleblower, referred to as Ingeborg, participated in a televised debate on NRK following allegations of misconduct within the youth organization. Løvold resigned from his position in August after reports surfaced regarding his interactions with Ingeborg while she was 17 years old.

Ingeborg described receiving uncomfortable messages from Løvold, including suggestions that she stay overnight at his home instead of traveling back. She also stated that Løvold gave her permission to consume alcohol at a private party despite her being a minor. She characterized the experience as potentially involving an abuse of power, noting that she felt fearful of reporting the behavior due to his leadership position.

Løvold stated that while his intention was not to cause discomfort, he acknowledges he could have handled the situation differently. He expressed regret over how the messages were perceived and admitted that allowing a minor to drink alcohol was a mistake. He also criticized the intensity of the media coverage surrounding the incident.
