Lars Frelle-Petersen receives Roskilde University honorary alumnus award

Lars Frelle-Petersen, Head of Department at the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, has been named the 2026 Honorary Alumnus of Roskilde University.

In receiving the award, Frelle-Petersen discussed the complexities of public leadership and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. He noted that his experience at Roskilde University shaped his approach to gathering diverse competencies to tackle challenges such as the green transition and electricity grid expansion.

Addressing misconceptions about public administration, Frelle-Petersen emphasized that regulatory frameworks are designed to ensure fair and equal treatment for citizens rather than merely creating bureaucracy. He defined effective leadership as the ability to listen to an organization and care for the employees being led.
