Las Américas International Airport begins US$400M terminal construction
Construction is progressing on a new passenger terminal at Las Américas International Airport (AILA) in the Dominican Republic. The project, managed by AERODOM (a VINCI Airports subsidiary), involves a US$400 million investment and is scheduled for completion in 2028.
Following the completion of geotechnical and ground preparation work, crews are currently executing foundation and structural works, including the installation of columns and concrete pouring. The project employs over 500 workers and is being coordinated by VINCI Construction Grands Projets and VINCI Energies alongside local contractors.
The new terminal will exceed 40,000 square meters and is designed to increase airport capacity by up to four million passengers annually. It will operate independently of the current terminal and feature sustainable infrastructure, such as a solar plant, a decarbonized climate control center, and a rehabilitated wastewater treatment plant.
In addition to the terminal construction, AERODOM is investing approximately US$20 million each to rehabilitate runway 17-35 and install a new baggage handling system.
