Las Bambas trains Cotabambas residents in environmental monitoring

As part of the 2026 Participatory Monitoring Environmental Delegates Training Program, 21 residents from various communities within the Direct Social Influence Area (AISD) of Cotabambas participated in a training workshop and internship in Arequipa.

The program included sessions at the Arequipa Chamber of Commerce covering environmental management, participatory monitoring, and current regulations. Participants also conducted a technical visit to the ALS LS Perú S.A.C. laboratory to observe the procedures and standards used in analyzing environmental samples, from reception to the issuance of results.

The initiative aims to strengthen the capacities of community representatives to promote more active and informed participation in environmental management. The goal for 2026 is to train 40 environmental delegates, including local residents, youth leaders, and communal authorities.
