Las Cigarreras launches two new art exhibitions in Alicante
The Las Cigarreras Cultural Center in Alicante has launched two new contemporary art exhibitions in collaboration with the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana.
The first exhibition, ‘The Utopian Stone’ by artist Pedro Luis Cembranos and curated by Leticia Cano, is an audiovisual installation located in the Sala Negre. It explores a 19th-century educational utopia based on the diaries of Scottish geologist William Maclure, who documented his geological studies and cooperative educational visions during his time in Alicante. This exhibition will run until December 5.
The second exhibition, ‘Sube’, is a sculptural installation curated by the Vista Oral collective (Alicia Escobio and Maite Muñoz). It investigates the memory and imagery of the ‘Ruta del Bakalao’ (the Valencian route). This project is hosted in the Caja Blanca and will remain on display until January 23.
