Las Dos Bocas greenhouse project faces abandonment in San Juan
Agricultural leader and agronomist Ariel Rosario Castillo has denounced the total abandonment of the Las Dos Bocas greenhouse project in the municipality of Vallejuelo, San Juan. The initiative previously served as a vital center for producing forest, fruit, and coffee plants used for reforestation efforts across the southwest region, including Vallejuelo, El Cercado, Hondo Valle, and Las Matas de Farfán.
Rosario Castillo, president of the Southwest San Juan delegation of the National Association of Agricultural Professionals (ANPA), expressed concern regarding the progressive deterioration of the facilities. He called upon government authorities, specifically the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Technical Executing Unit for Agroforestry Development Projects (UTEPDA), to collaborate in rescuing and reactivating the project.
Beyond environmental benefits, Rosario Castillo noted that restoring the site could transform it into a training center for agricultural students from local polytechnic schools, providing practical technical education while supporting natural resource conservation.
