Las Heras begins reforestation plan to plant 10,000 trees

A provincial reforestation plan has commenced in Las Heras, Santa Cruz, aimed at planting 10,000 trees at the city's entrance. The initiative is part of Governor Claudio Vidal's policies to enhance public spaces and improve the urban landscape.

The first operational stage involves the planting of 5,000 specimens. Beyond aesthetic improvements, the project serves a critical environmental purpose by creating a natural windbreak. This vegetation barrier is designed to reduce wind speeds and mitigate the impact of Patagonian weather conditions on the access route, improving transitability and the environment for local residents.

The project is being coordinated through various provincial agencies. Officials including Gabriel Añango, Director of the Las Heras Agrarian Council, and Hernán Elorrieta, Secretary of State for Government and the Interior, oversaw the initial works to ensure sustainable development alongside the area's urban and demographic growth.
