Las Lajas to host hearing and vision health evaluations
The Visual Health Plan mobile unit is scheduled to visit Las Lajas on October 1 to provide both visual and auditory evaluations. The hearing assessments are specifically targeted at students between the ages of 10 and 17 to facilitate early detection of hearing difficulties.
Audiometric tests will be conducted at the Dr. José Vernier hospital in consultation room No. 2. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 30 participants. This initiative is part of a provincial strategy to expand healthcare access in rural and remote areas of Neuquén.
The program is a collaborative effort involving the provincial government, Fundación Salud para Todos, the Undersecretariat of Disability, the Neuquén Gambling Institute (IJAN), and the Community Hearing Health Approach Network (RACsa). It integrates the local 'Dejar de ser mendigos del sonido' initiative with the national 'Ver para ser Libres' program, which provides vision screenings and immediate eyewear delivery.
