Las Leandras debuts at La Solana National Zarzuela Week
The musical revue ‘Las Leandras’, originally composed by Francisco Alonso in 1931, made its debut at the National Zarzuela Week of La Solana. Performed by the Dolores Marco Company at the Tomás Barrera Saavedra Auditorium, the production drew significant crowds for both its afternoon and evening shows.
While not a zarzuela in the strictest sense due to the musical numbers not being directly linked to the plot, the production is considered a close relative. The staging utilized simple sets and background imagery of traditional Madrid to maintain a steady rhythm. The performance featured Alicia Montesquiu in the central role of Concha and Lorenzo Moncloa as Pichi.
