Las Mesas hosts III World Slingshot Championship

The III World Slingshot Championship was held in Las Mesas, Cuenca, from October 1 to 4, bringing together participants from 21 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The event succeeded the 2024 championship held in Shanghai.

Local athlete Óscar Collado, founder of the Tiradores Meseños club and current European champion, achieved a world runner-up position in the team category. The competition was organized by the Spanish Slingshot Association in collaboration with the Las Mesas City Council, the Cuenca Provincial Council, and the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha.

To support the international event, the Cuenca Provincial Council invested 35,000 euros into renovating the municipal sports pavilion to improve accessibility and infrastructure. Officials noted that such investments allow rural municipalities to host global events and promote local economic impact.
