Las Ramírez preserves 80-year culinary tradition in Masatepe

The family business ‘Las Ramírez: Nacatamales, Tamugas y Más’ has maintained a gastronomic tradition in Masatepe, Nicaragua, for over 80 years. Led by Frank Enrique Oviedo Otero, the enterprise specializes in the artisanal production of nacatamales and tamugas using recipes passed down through generations.

The business produces approximately 1,980 units per week and provides six direct jobs, primarily for women. Notably, four employees have worked with the business for over 25 years, playing a key role in preserving traditional culinary techniques and secrets.

Operating under the motto ‘Tradición hecha en casa’ (Tradition made at home), the business will participate in the ninth edition of Nicaragua Emprende from September 4 to 6, 2026.
