Las Rosas and San Genaro hit by severe hailstorm
A severe storm involving intense wind, heavy rain, and large hail struck the Argentine towns of Las Rosas and San Genaro on Thursday, March 27. The phenomenon, which lasted approximately 15 minutes, caused significant material damage but resulted in no reported injuries or fatalities.
In Las Rosas, the storm damaged at least 29 homes, with two families being evacuated. The weather caused roofs to blow off, downed approximately 50 utility poles, and left streets covered in a thick layer of hail. Local authorities, including the municipal government, volunteer firefighters, and the Empresa Provincial de la Energía (EPE), worked to restore electricity and clear debris. By Friday morning, most of the population had regained power.
In San Genaro, the storm affected 24 houses and damaged a school gallery. The Santa Fe provincial government, through its Civil Protection Secretariat and the Ministry of Equality and Human Development, has deployed teams to assess damages and coordinate emergency assistance for the affected residents.
