Las Vegas Grand Prix provides $100,000 grant for valley-wide school safety program

The Las Vegas Grand Prix donated $100,000 to launch a unified traffic‑safety campaign for every public and charter school in Clark County, Nevada. Clark County Commission Chairman Michael Naft said the grant will fund printed safety tip sheets, updated Nevada traffic‑law guidance, electronic‑device rules and parking warning cards for classrooms across the valley. The initiative also adds crossing guards at all elementary and middle schools and at five high schools – Bonanza, Centennial, Desert Pines, Shadow Ridge and Western – for the 2026‑27 school year. Officials noted that 427 children were involved in traffic crashes in Southern Nevada last year. The district is also promoting the SafeKey program, which offers supervised before‑ and after‑school environments, and the Youth Leadership Advisory Council for high‑school students interested in civic engagement.
