A 40-year-old man, Abdelhafiz Abdelgader, killed his parents and subsequently died by suicide in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incident occurred at an apartment near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Abdelgader called 911 at approximately 10:00 a.m. and spoke with a dispatcher for about nine minutes. During the call, he confessed to shooting his parents, 69-year-old Ibrahim Jihar and 64-year-old Jimea Mahmoud. He expressed a desire to die, citing the loss of his brother and physical pain, stating, “My body is broken now.”
After a single gunshot was heard on the line, officers forced entry into the apartment. Jihar and Mahmoud were found dead at the scene. Abdelgader was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
