Las Vegas Raiders defeat Miami Dolphins in season opener
The Las Vegas Raiders secured a 27-13 season-opening victory against the Miami Dolphins. Rookie head coach Klint Kubiak earned his first win, supported by a strong performance from quarterback Kirk Cousins, who recorded his 299th, 300th, and 301st career touchdown passes.
Running back Ashton Jeanty led the offense with 102 rushing yards on 23 carries and added 67 receiving yards, including two touchdowns. Other notable contributors included Mike Washington Jr., who rushed for 41 yards, and Michael Mayer, who recorded six receptions for 32 yards.
The Raiders' defensive line showed significant improvement, particularly in addressing concerns from the previous season. Defensive ends Kwity Paye and Maxx Crosby led the pass rush, with Paye recording two sacks and Crosby finishing with 1.5 sacks and a 33% pass rush win rate. The team's offensive line also performed well, allowing no sacks during the contest and facilitating 143 rushing yards between Jeanty and Washington Jr.
