Las Vegas Raiders name Nakobe Dean as defensive “green dot” linebacker

The Las Vegas Raiders have appointed linebacker Nakobe Dean as the team’s “green dot,” the player who wears a headset and relays defensive calls from coordinator Rob Leonard. Dean, who missed all OTAs and a mandatory minicamp due to injury concerns, arrived at training camp healthy and will now serve as the on‑field quarterback of the defense.

Quay Walker, who performed the green‑dot role for the Green Bay Packers, will shift to a more flexible position on the Raiders’ linebacker corps. Walker said he welcomes the reduced responsibility, noting it allows him to focus on his strengths and support Dean in communication duties.
