Las Vegas Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza files Star Wars‑themed trademark

The Las Vegas Raiders are shaping their 2026 season around rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza, the No. 1 overall pick, who is competing for the starting job with veteran Kirk Cousins. The team’s Week 16 matchup against the Tennessee Titans is seen as a key benchmark for the Raiders’ rebuild.

Mendoza has also filed a trademark application for the name “Nandolorian,” a nickname he adopted in a promotional video that references the Star Wars series. The filing, made with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, seeks protection for a clothing brand and could raise a legal issue with Lucasfilm, which holds numerous Mandalorian‑related trademarks.
