Las Vegas Raiders start 2026 NFL season with surprising 2-0 record
The Las Vegas Raiders have opened the 2026 NFL season with a surprising 2-0 record, securing victories against the Miami Dolphins and the Los Angeles Chargers. This marks the team's first 2-0 start since 2021 and the first time a team has achieved this after winning three or fewer games the previous season since 2014.
Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins has been central to the team's success, recording six touchdowns through the first two games. In the Week 2 win against the Chargers, Cousins threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns. Head coach Klint Kubiak has emphasized the team's versatility, noting how the offense adapted from a run-heavy approach against Miami to an aggressive passing attack against Los Angeles.
The Raiders' defense has also seen significant improvement, particularly the secondary. While the defensive line led by Maxx Crosby has maintained high pressure rates, the secondary's ability to cover receivers has forced opposing quarterbacks to hold the ball longer, facilitating sacks.
Despite the momentum, Kubiak remains cautious, stating that “no one’s made the playoffs going 2-0.” The Raiders are scheduled to face the New Orleans Saints in Week 3, where they enter as underdogs despite their undefeated record.
