Las Vegas travelers report booking non-existent hotels

Travelers in Las Vegas have reported being misled by online listings for non-existent hotels. Guests claimed they booked accommodations under names such as ‘Palette’ and ‘Collection O’, only to be directed to the OYO Hotel & Casino Las Vegas upon arrival.

Reports suggest that these fraudulent listings utilized AI-generated imagery to appear legitimate on reputable travel sites. The incident has raised concerns regarding the ability of online travel agencies to verify property existence, as these platforms often rely on data provided by operators rather than independent verification.

Following the backlash, several booking platforms began removing the listings. OYO has removed the properties from its reservation system, and Expedia has marked one of the properties as unavailable.
