LaShawnda Woodard discusses Lil Durk’s legal issues and family loss

LaShawnda Woodard, mother of rapper Lil Durk, expressed deep personal guilt regarding her son’s legal challenges and the death of her eldest son, D-Thang, during an interview on ‘If You Knew Better with Amber Grimes.’

Woodard stated, “I feel like everything that has happened is my fault. I blame myself for everything that’s happening. I blame myself for my son getting killed and I blame myself for my son being locked up.” She attributed these hardships to not following her own mother’s advice regarding education and career development, which she believes could have helped the family move away from their neighborhood, 7220.

In addition to discussing her family, Woodard spoke about her 2021 book and her experiences surviving sexual assault. She currently serves as a speaker at various high schools to connect with young women and offer support.
