LASODA provides financial aid and hearing devices to persons with disabilities
The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has implemented two recent initiatives to support persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Lagos State.
As part of an annual welfare program, LASODA disbursed N20 million in financial assistance, providing N100,000 to 200 beneficiaries. The distribution took place between September 22 and September 25, 2026. LASODA General Manager Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal stated that while financial aid cannot solve every challenge, it serves as an important intervention to promote well-being, dignity, and inclusion.
Additionally, LASODA partnered with the Nigerbell Hearing & Speech Centre to provide hearing aids to 15 individuals with hearing impairments. The two-day program, held on September 17 and 18, 2026, included audiological assessments and professional fitting to ensure the devices met individual needs. The agency noted that such interventions are essential for reducing communication barriers in education and employment.
