Apple TV releases Australian thriller series Last Seen

Apple TV has released ‘Last Seen’, a new six-episode Australian mystery thriller series. Based on Ryan David Jahn’s novel ‘The Dispatcher’, the show is directed by Christian Schwochow.

The story follows Ian Ridley, played by Patrick Brammall, a former police detective turned emergency dispatcher. Eleven years after his daughter Maggie disappeared, the discovery of human remains and a frantic distress call from a teenage girl lead Ian to believe his daughter may still be alive, causing his stable life to unravel.

The ensemble cast includes Maxine Peake as Jenna, a woman living in rural isolation, and Brendan Cowell as Henry Reid. Critics have noted the series focuses on character development and psychological depth rather than relying on typical genre twists.
