Lasta village hosts self-service cafe in mountainous Arcadia

In the village of Lasta, located in the mountainous region of Arcadia, a unique self-service cafe named ‘O Agia-Giorgis’ offers an alternative tourism model. Situated at an altitude of 1,072 meters on the slopes of Mount Mainalo, the cafe operates without a barista; instead, visitors prepare their own coffee using provided tools and ingredients.

To support the maintenance of this historic establishment, guests are encouraged to contribute any amount they wish to a communal fund box. In exchange for using the space, visitors are expected to keep the area clean and organized.

Lasta, which once housed thousands of residents, now has only 10 permanent inhabitants. While the village lacks large-scale industrial tourism infrastructure, it offers an authentic experience through its traditional stone houses and a community guesthouse located in the old primary school.
