Latacunga and Huelva prepare for 2026 patron saint festivities

Religious and cultural festivities are being organized for the 2026 patron saint celebrations in Latacunga, Ecuador, and Huelva, Spain.

In Latacunga, the Mercedarian Community of the San Pedro Armengol Convent has announced the programming for the feasts in honor of Nuestra Madre de la Merced. Scheduled from August to October, the events include liturgical activities, pilgrimages to Piedra Chilintosa, and a procession of the image through various neighborhoods. Key highlights include a serenata on August 15, a novena from September 14 to 22, and traditional parades such as the 'desfile de malvas y chihuahuas' on September 19.

In Huelva, preparations are underway for the Fiestas de la Cinta, held from September 5 to 8. The city is finalizing the layout for the La Orden fairground, which will host various gastronomic stalls and attractions. The festivities feature a strong presence from local brotherhoods, including the Hermandad de los Mutilados and Hermandad de la Victoria, alongside cultural associations like the Federación Onubense de Peñas de Carnaval.
