LATAM and Grupo Abra report strong second-quarter results

Major Latin American airline groups reported significant financial activity for the second quarter. LATAM Airlines Group recorded a net profit of US$125 million and an operating margin of 5.4%, with revenues reaching US$4.183 billion, a 28% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Despite facing a 93.1% increase in fuel costs, which totaled US$1.712 billion, the group saw its passenger volume reach 21.1 million, with an 81.8% occupancy rate.

Grupo Abra, the parent company of Avianca and GOL, reported operational revenues of US$2.6 billion, representing a 17.7% year-on-year growth. The group transported 17.6 million passengers across its network of over 370 routes. Abra's cargo and other business segments contributed US$448 million, a 14.8% increase. To mitigate rising fuel prices, the group utilized fuel hedging, capacity management, and operational efficiency measures, offsetting 49% of the fuel cost increases.
