Latam flight returns to Brasília after birdstrike

Latam flight LA3776, scheduled from Brasília to Salvador, suffered a birdstrike shortly after take‑off on 29 July. The aircraft emitted smoke and the crew returned to Brasília‑Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek Airport, landing safely. The incident forced the temporary closure of one runway for about 20 minutes while fuel was cleaned up, delaying several other flights. Latam cancelled the flight and offered assistance to passengers, stating the event was outside the airline’s control. Airport operator Inframerica confirmed the runway was reopened after the cleanup.
