Latimer residents protest traffic chaos during Harry Potter filming

Residents of Latimer, Buckinghamshire, have expressed significant frustration following road closures and traffic delays caused by filming for the upcoming HBO Harry Potter television series. Plum Jam Productions, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery, conducted a three-day shoot to transform the village into a 1990s setting, reportedly for scenes related to ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’.

During the production, main access routes were closed, forcing motorists onto a narrow, unlit single-track road or a 17-kilometer detour that added at least 20 minutes to travel times. On one Tuesday, access was restricted to emergency vehicles between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Residents reported feeling ‘cut off’ and ‘in the lurch,’ claiming that the production did not sufficiently account for their daily needs or ability to access their homes.

While the production company had previously warned of potential congestion and pledged to make disruptions ‘as manageable as possible,’ locals described the situation as a ‘nightmare.’ The filming, part of a project internally referred to as ‘Apollo,’ aims to maintain the 1990s era depicted in the original books.
